Background: the directors of Xeretec were advised that they should spend some of their income, a circumstance that coincided with their company’s need for new premises.

The selected property had been built on land that had been reclaimed from a timber treatment yard. We quickly realised that the key to this acquisition was ensuring that the decontamination work had been carried out correctly and with appropriate documentation. Since the law states that an owner is responsible for any pollution on or emanating from his site, we had to protect our client (and our client’s lender) from the risk of future claims against them.
